Summary. Dreams get a fundamental role in psychodynamic therapies. As soon as we tell patients that dreams are “useful” to analysis it’s likely to occur that either they bring up several of them or they say they do not remember any. In this work we intend to reflect upon resistance and change dynamics put to use through dreams during a path of analysis. The dream of a patient who’s acting for a change in her way of life is related in the work. From a methodological point of view, it is necessary to help patients to select the valuable materials connected to state dream that they offer us. It is necessary to focus on the first dreams they’ve brought up to us and on the last ones; in the meantime identifying crucial dreams could represent, in this perspective, an useful tip for developing of the analysis.

CD_065_Fassina et Alii

Summary. The psychodynamic tradition evidences that the patients’ dreams, particularly transfert dreams, can contribute to a better comprehension not only of the patients’ changes in the clinical manifestations and in the defence mechanisms’organization, but also of the quality of the therapeutic relationship; furthermore, patients’ dreams can evidence some developments of the therapeutic process. It can occur that the therapist dreams about a patient too. Some of these dreams have an important countertransferal meaning; if the therapist understands and elaborates the unconscious meanings of his/her dreams, they can become really useful in the comprehension of the therapeutic relationship and in the management of the therapeutic process. This paper proposes some theoretical considerations about the utility of the therapist’s countertransferal dreams, starting from the description of two therapists’ dreams about a patient, during an Adlerian Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
