Summary. The interpretative technique is the foundamental diagnostic instrument for every psychodinamic treatment. With reference to the model of Individual Psychology, the interpretation is, in the diagnostic field, the capacity of the operator to decode, with deep techniques, the hidden meanings of words and behaviours to understand the foundamental traits of personality and in therapeutic field, every communication which intends to reveal, by an adlerian interpretation, the consciousness of hidden or recondit meanings contained in speeches and attitudes, moreover it gives to the patient the reasons that have brought him to hide or camouflage the clear sense of matters. The presentation of some interpretative moments of a medical case will show the use of the two interpretative ways.

Summary. The research about personality characteristics produces interesting inferences about pathogenetic, diagnostic, therapeutic and prognostic issues of many mental disorders. The Rorschach test is one of the most useful and well known instrument for the study of personality characteristics, nevertheless its use in research has declined after the diffusion of personality inventories. One of these is the Cloninger’s Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) which explores four temperament and three character dimensions. The aim of this study is to explore whether the two instruments can display a certain degree of consistence when testing temperament and what psychodynamic in-depth knowledge of TCI traits may derive from its correlation to Rorschach findings. A sample of subjects affected by different mental disorders was tested with both instruments and each siglature of Rorschach test was correlated with dimensions and facets of TCI. The results were rather surprising. Even if the theoretical viewpoint of the two instruments is quite different, the correlation between the two tests was extensive and the meaning which emerged from the siglatures of Rorschach test was consistent with the original meaning of TCI dimensions. These results support a cross validation of both tests and shed a light about the psychodynamic roots of temperament dimensions of TCI.

Summary. The fast and ceaseless changes of culture in all life aspects force the individual to new adaptations and controls to safeguard his identity. Science, technology and media are constantly promising to increase our power and get rid of limits of space, time and biology. All that can influence deeply human relations, sexual behaviour, parenthood dimension and must be carefully analysed by psychologists. When common sense accepts and approves individual will of power how could be transformed our innate social feeling? How other people could “be reduced to things” in love or in affective relations? Love fictions and power in a clinical case of “romantic” narcissism.
