Summary. Caravaggio’s painting “La chiamata di Levi” is the spark that recalls the snapshot full of mystery and untold and unspoken truths that we find in the relationship between the analyst and his patient. Amazement is an experience of seeing-knowing-understanding, it is the unexpected in analysis that incorporates the subjectivity of the therapeutic relationship that makes the patient think to be intimately asked: me, truly? The amazement refers to one self: it is an action that reveals someone’s identity, it is a transformation, not a safe arrival, but an unpredictable place. In analytic therapy will not happen a fascination, but a link between what amazes and who is surprised, thus structuring an unrepeatable relationship to redefine the lifestyle.
